Some good finds there Mal, shame about the GoPro. Did you ever find out what went wrong, I'm curious as I have a Hero 8.

Thanks Bob :)
Apparently there have been a number of issues with the Hero 7 like this, with locking up, bad audio, poor connectivity to only 3m instead of the quoted 10m, directional reception for remote use, etc. I and others on the GoPro own Forum have complained but as usual with GP it fell on deaf ears saying just reload the Firmware after pulling the battery whilst switched on to release the jam. Many complaints and surprisingly the Hero 8 came out very quickly. A friend of mine works for SKY and another Sky guy fro a different source told me they wont use the 7 or the 8 due to the issues. Wish I knew that before buying :(
Mine seems ok now with the Firmware reloaded and its been revised again so wonder if they are actually sorting the issues using the public as testers?

I know what you mean about GoPro support, I browse the support forum and they are useless, fortunately mine has been problem free so far except occassionally the App won't connect but I don't often use that so a minor issue.
Hopefully yours behaves itself from now on, it must be frustrating finding out after you've spent time recording stuff.

It was Bob the whole hunt in a blur so too speak :(
Been trying it out and seem ok now. Weird how this seems to all related to the GPH7.
I dumped the Quik app as so unreliable so now just use the card reader and Explorer, so much faster :)
Never had any issues with the FT5 I last seven years Ive had it :)

Same for me with the App, I just use it to set the time, date, etc and I download direct from the sd card onto my P.C. then edit in Davinci.
