Hi all, haven't been on for ages, apologies. Been busy but that's just changed
I've decided to come into the 21st century for beach detecting, and gonna get me a new machine. I really haven't kept my finger on the pulse with regard to machines and am surprised by all the new minelab detectors on the market vanquish/equinox etc
I'm looking to buy ASAP so without this becoming a pissing contest is the equinox range as good/nearly as good as the ctx? Are the vanquish any good? I've had a safari and etrac and loved them, had a play with a ctx and it's amazing. Got a sov now but the battery is doing my head in.
Just wanting a quality minelab beach detector and saw I've just missed out on a ctx for sale on here at a cracking price

My detecting buddy uses a NOX800, and about ten days ago came in to see me, having been detecting at
Fistral beach, Newquay, He told me that he had been chatting to a guy using a SIMPLEX, and admitted
that, after watching the guy for some time, he feels the Simplex is actually better than the Nox, and he is a
very experienced detectorist, of over forty years.

Forget the Simplex as it still just a detuned VLF for beach use.
Plus it's been shown to be lacking when tested by Nokta experts themselves against the Equinox on test beds.
Could not pick up the hammered coin in the iron where both the Equinox and Vanquish gave a clear signal.
Personally the Equinox 800 takes some beating and also its little brother the Vanquish.
Both use the same iQ firmware and both very capable detectors.
CTX still King of the beach in my eyes even after using the Equinox with the 15" coil since they came out for the beach.
All down to your budget really.

Mal., how can we forget a machine which picks up as much as, if not more than, a much more expensive piece of equipment ?

Baz is a very capable detectorist, who knows his machine, always been the same even with previous Minelabs, BUT, he came
out with the remark straight after returning from the beach, with a box containing almost a hundred finds, mainly coins, but
including four lead weights, and three hooks. There was no need for him to use the phrase, "As good as, if not better than
my detector", but he did.

John you need to watch the video with Nokta own test team challenged Neil Jones on the test beds as they were shocked at the results. Filmed live at a Rally in front of a lot of people. Plus how did the guy test this on his beach or was it just gut feel??
Some days you can beach hunt with an old Scope and still find loads other times you need an edge with a dedicated beach detector.
